The last leg of the official visit of the Duke of Edinburgh to Portugal took the Prince Edward and the Duchess Sofia to several iconic locations in Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. Between history, culture, social inclusion and wine tradition, the royal couple ended a visit marked by the celebration of the ties between Portugal and the United Kingdom. The official visit of the Duke of Edinburgh to Portugal came to an end with a day spent between Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia, in a farewell marked by symbolism, history and direct contact with projects related to youth and culture. On social media, the British Royal Family made a balance of the displacement, thanking the reception in Portuguese territory and highlighting that they were "intense days in Lisbon and Porto", filled with initiatives related to culture, heritage and youth. Among the highlighted moments were the contact with young people from the International Duke of Edinburgh Award and the baptism of a bottle of Port wine, one of the most symbolic experiences of the visit. The day began at the Porto City Hall, where Eduardo and Sofia were received by the Mayor, Pedro Duarte, and the President of the Municipal Assembly, Marta Massada. The act was marked by the delivery of the Keys of the City, one of the highest distinctions awarded by the municipality, in a gesture of recognition of the historical link to the city. It was followed by a visit to the Oporto British School, an institution with over a century of history and considered the oldest British school in continental Europe. In a relaxed atmosphere, the Duke of Edinburgh met with young people involved in the international program that promotes volunteering, expeditions and personal development, listening to testimonies from students and former participants. The visit continued between the British Factory House and the Porto Cathedral, two spaces where British presence and common history between the two countries have crossed for centuries. It was also there that the historical link between Portugal and the United Kingdom was evoked again, one of the oldest diplomatic alliances still in force. Already at the Casa da Música, the royal couple accompanied initiatives related to social inclusion and the formation of young people through music, a moment that brought together culture and community intervention. The closing took place in Vila Nova de Gaia, in the cellars of Graham's, where the dukes got to know the process of aging of the Port wine. The farewell highlighted the tradition: the baptism of a bottle of wine, a symbolic gesture reserved for special visits. The program crossed heritage, youth and tradition, and reinforced, once again, the historical link between Portugal and the United Kingdom.
