The Prefeitura de Santarém, through the Secretaria Municipal de Juventude, Esporte e Lazer (Semjel), closed the seletiva that defined the three teams qualified for the II Copa Santarém de Futsal. The competition was held between June 1st and 6th, at the Arena Djalma Lima, bringing together 14 teams in an intense week of matches. At the end of the competition, Villa Real won the title of the seletiva and the first spot in the Copa. BFC Branches came in second, while Meia Boca Jr. secured third place. With the result, the three teams will join the group of participants in the II Copa Santarém de Futsal. More than defining the qualified teams, the seletiva reinforced the growth of the modality in the municipality, promoting opportunities for athletes and teams seeking space among the main futsal teams in Santarém. For Diego Viana, of Villa Real, the conquest represents a special moment for the team. “It's a huge emotion. It was an incentive I needed in football and, thanks to God, we got this access. Now we'll face big teams and represent our team well”, he highlighted. Representing BFC Branches, Gerson highlighted the importance of the tournament for local sports. “The seletiva made us remember the great futsal championships that marked the era in Santarém. We're very happy to have won this spot and ready to face new challenges”, he stated. Already Efrén, of Meia Boca Jr., highlighted the unity of the group during the competition. “Our group remained united until the end and achieved the goal. Now it's time to intensify preparation to make a good campaign in the Copa”, he said. The competition coordinator, Wanessa Vasconcelos, positively evaluated the realization of the seletiva. “We closed this stage with a sense of duty fulfilled. We had an organized competition, expressive participation of teams and good public presence. Now we'll move on to the final preparations of the Copa Santarém de Futsal”, she highlighted. The municipal secretary of Juventude, Esporte e Lazer, Pedro Henrique Silva, highlighted the role of the competition in strengthening local sports. “The Copa Santarém de Futsal represents a milestone for local sports. We're creating opportunities for athletes, promoting sports practice and strengthening the city's sports calendar. It's an initiative that promotes inclusion, citizenship and social development through sports”, he stated. The realization of the seletiva reinforces the commitment of the Prefeitura de Santarém to the valorization of sports as a tool for inclusion, community integration and human development, expanding opportunities for athletes and encouraging population participation in sports activities in the municipality.
